New Home, New Town
So I’ve moved into my new apartment here in 당고개 [Danggogae] and it’s really great! Aside from it not being furnished and being completely empty (I really gotta get around to putting some furniture in this place) I really love it, so far. A couple main reasons why: it’s got a giant window! Big windows are amazing especially when you have a great view to go along with it. Downside of this window is that I don’t have curtains yet so my home life is wide open for the world to see. There are thousands of apartment windows I can see out there who are potentially spying on me. Creepy. Also, the apartment has a high ceiling with cool recessed lights! I live on the top floor of the officetel (6th floor) and there’s a rooftop I could go out onto! If some of ya’ll come over it would be cool to chill out there, maybe a little barbecue, it’s also got a great view of the whole town up there.
At first I was a little sad that I couldn’t find a place down in central Seoul close to all the fun but more and more I am starting to love it up here. 당고개 is the LAST station up on line 4 so I live pretty far up on the north east side of Seoul. It’s really nice though because my little town is tucked into the corner surrounded by some beautiful mountains (definitely want to do some hiking soon). The mountain is only blocks away from my apartment. It’s also nice being away from the hustle and bustle of Seoul and just having the choice to go out there for weekend fun. My 동내 (neighborhood) is really nice. I got everything (almost) I need within walking distance. A bakery, PC cafe, bars, coffee shops, market, convenience store, tons of restaurants, the subway station, bus stop, bank, dark room, and tons more. Every night or so after work I take a quick stroll around my area. I try taking different streets each time so I could explore and see what’s tucked away. Found a few good places. I’ll be posting some photos of my area shortly.
Cheers to a new start. I think I’ll be making some good memories here.
